UMass Amherst’s John Clark Elected as American Chemical Society Fellow

John M. Clark, emeritus professor in the Department of Veterinary & Animal Sciences, has been elected as an ACS Fellow of the American Chemical Society.

Clark and 33 additional awardees received the award at the ACS Fall Meeting in Denver on August 20. The largest scientific society in the world, the ACS has over 200,000 members representing 192 countries. Established in 2008, the ACS Fellows Program was created to recognize members for outstanding achievements in and contributions to science, the profession and the Society.

At the ACS meeting, Clark also received the Sterling B. Hendricks Memorial Lectureship Award from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Research Service, and presented a lecture, “The 91-R strain of Drosophila melanogaster: A model for DDT resistance and environmental consequences.”
