Unacademy Selects New Relic for Full-Stack Observability to Deliver Continuous Uninterrupted Service
New Delhi: New Relic, Inc.(NYSE: NEWR), the observability company, has been selected by India-based edtech unicorn Unacademy as it continues to build the world’s largest online knowledge repository for multilingual education.
New Relic will provide Unacademy with the tools, intelligence, and support to achieve Full-Stack Observability as it scales its business beyond India. Leveraging New Relic’s Full-Stack Observability offering, they will easily visualise, analyse, and troubleshoot their entire software stack in one connected experience.
Unacademy is an e-learning giant with a network of more than 50 million active learners and 1000-plus top educators. Backed by Facebook, SoftBank Group, Blume Ventures, Sequoia Capital, cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, Tiger Global Management and Dragoneer Investment Group and others, Unacademy reaches students across 5,000 cities in India in 14 Indian languages.
As the team grew to meet demand, they faced significant issues with data silos and tool sprawl resulting in blind spots. To combat this, the team needed a robust end-to-end observability solution which would be the single source of truth for the engineering team. They also needed a solution that would improve the overall availability of their systems within their agile cloud-based environment. This is when the team turned to New Relic.
“Our engineering leads were telling us that the current tool wasn’t working well, and their problems weren’t getting resolved. We moved quickly to overcome these issues and determined that New Relic ticked all the boxes for us,” said Alok Maurya, Unacademy director of engineering.
“We found New Relic to be far superior compared to the other provider – the ability to uncover anomalies automatically and see the probable root cause of every incident from any data source automatically in very high traffic situations was very appealing to us.
“We were also very impressed with New Relic’s level of service. From technical questions to executive support, New Relic has been beside us every step of the way. We look forward to a long and successful partnership as we continue to scale to new heights,” Maurya said.
“Unacademy is an e-learning powerhouse that is growing from strength to strength and redefining the concept of quality education in India. By using New Relic, Unacademy will be able to achieve full-stack observability and maintain quality of service as it rapidly scales its business, especially with traffic and throughput at record levels. Having end-to-end visibility of the technology stack is a crucial part of daily operations for any successful business, and we’re pleased that Unacademy has turned to New Relic for help,” said Ben Goodman, New Relic senior vice president Asia.
The win involved New Relic partner Zoos Global. Zoos Global is one of India’s biggest SaaS distribution companies, and a New Relic premier partner.
“We are thrilled with Unacademy’s decision to select New Relic to ensure a seamless tech environment and navigate their next phase of growth,” said Sarthak Gandhi, Managing Director, Zoos Global. “New Relic is the leading observability platform in the market with the recognised ability to help customers improve the performance and scalability of their digital services. We have a number of customers already using New Relic’s platform, and can’t wait for our other market-leading e-commerce, edtech, fintech, food tech and gaming customers – all who are scaling at an incredible pace – to start using New Relic as well.”
Unacademy’s decision to partner with New Relic follows the recent launch of the observability leader’s next-generation AIOps capabilities, which have been built directly into the platform.
New Relic also recently introduced New Relic Explorer, its reimagined Full-Stack Observability experience that delivers innovative new visualisations and capabilities to give engineers unprecedented visibility into their complete estate. With zero configuration required, New Relic Explorer brings together an organisation’s telemetry data from across applications and infrastructure to provide an essential live view of an entire software system’s health and performance. With this new single source of truth, engineers can quickly discover emerging performance issues and swiftly take action to get systems back to full health before customers or employees are impacted. All existing New Relic customers are automatically upgraded to this new and powerful experience.
