UNESCO and partners seek further support to promote rights of persons with disabilities
UNESCO Regional Office for Southern Africa will be hosting a United Nations Partnership on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNPRPD) Round 4 proposal writing workshop from 20 -24 September 2021. This full-fledged proposal writing process will bring together the Zimbabwe UNPRPD project team as well as stakeholders from the Department of Disability Affairs in the Ministry of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare and Organisations of Persons with Disabilities.
The workshop which is scheduled to take place in Harare, will utilise the identified national priorities agreed on by the UNPRPD project team in consultation with national disability stakeholders to advance disability-inclusion to develop the full proposal. This proposal will also be guided by the findings of the Comprehensive Situational Analysis. The overall objective of the workshop is for the multi-stakeholder team to support the UN Country Team in producing the UNPRPD Round 4 Zimbabwe Full-fledged proposal on strengthening disability rights.
About 40 stakeholders are expected to participate and these include the UNPRPD Project Team, UN Agencies, Government, Umbrella Bodies, Organizations of Persons with Disabilities, Human Rights Commissions as well as key disability-civil society actors.
Guided by templates and instructions received from the UNPRPD Secretariat, feedback on the Priorities and Log frame, as well as the Situation Analysis Zimbabwe submitted in August 2021, the full-fledged proposal writing process will benefit from technical expertise from an international Monitoring and Evaluation Expert, and Primson Consultancy, who undertook the Situational Analysis on Persons with Disabilities, which is one of the key documents to inform the proposal writing process.
