UNESCO campaign invites teachers and students to share good teaching practices

The initiative is part of the celebrations for World Teachers’ Day 2020 and will reward the best messages. Registration is open until 05/10
As part of the celebrations for World Teachers’ Day (5/10), and for National Teachers’ Day (10/15), UNESCO in Brazil promotes the Teachers’ Day 2020 campaign, in which it invites students and teachers to share, through videos, support messages, and successful teaching practices during the pandemic. Registration is open until next Monday (5) and will include two categories: teachers and students. The three best messages in each category will receive as a prize a kit of UNESCO publications and a certificate signed by the Director and Representative of the Organization, Marlova Jovchelovitch Noleto.

World Teachers’ Day is celebrated by UNESCO every year as a partnership with UNICEF, ILO, and Education International. This year, in particular, the Organization celebrates the work of teachers, who during the pandemic and in the face of the numerous difficulties imposed, are creating new ways of teaching. With the theme “Teachers: Leading in crisis, reimagining the future”, the date aims at recognizing the importance of teachers and raise awareness of the challenges they face in meeting the global goals of education, expressed in the Development Objective (SDG 4).

Due to the situation of the global health crisis caused by COVID-19, UNESCO headquarters celebrations will be online. The opening ceremonies of the day, the UNESCO-Hamdan Award, on October 5, and the closing ceremony, on October 12, will also take place remotely. There will also be a series of national, regional, and international events throughout the week (learn more).

For more information and to register in either category, you must access the Teachers´ Day 2020 campaign website (in Portuguese). The deadline for submitting and sending videos is Monday (5), 23:59 (Brazil time). To find out more about the date, visit the UNESCO page on World Teachers’ Day.
