UNESCO held the sixth Steering Committee meeting for “Improving Access to Quality and Inclusive Education with Gender Equality for Out of School Children (OOSC)”

UNESCO held the sixth Steering Committee meeting for “Improving Access to Quality and Inclusive Education with Gender Equality for Out of School Children (OOSC)” project funded by Educate A Child (EAC)/Education Above All (EAA) Foundation and the Government of Italy on 30 June and 1 July 2021, following the workshop for the officials of the Directorates of Education (DoE) from the targeted governorates (Baghdad, Ninewa, Salah Al Din, Babil, Thi Qar and Erbil) to enhance national capacity to discuss and agree on how to improve the project implementation. The Steering Committee meeting was also attended by the donors from EAC/EAA and the Government of Italy online to discuss the up-to-date achievements, challenges on the ground and recommendations. The project has so far 134,561 OOSC enrolled (target 150,000) and trained 1,577 teachers (target 1,500). UNESCO is working shoulder to shoulder with MoE and DoE key officials and other counterparts to achieve project objectives.
