UNESCO in Tanzania welcomes Michel Toto as new Officer in Charge

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization in the United Republic of Tanzania is pleased to introduce Mr Michel Toto as the new Officer in Charge of the Organization in the United Republic of Tanzania.

Mr Toto, a seasoned diplomat, brings over twenty years of international experience in multilateral cooperation.

Mr Toto joined the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in 1999, respectively holding positions of Deputy Liaison Officer, Liaison Officer and Chief of the Section for Cooperation with Member States in the Africa Department of UNESCO until 2011. Prior to this appointment, Mr Toto served as Chief of Protocol of the Organization and Introducer of Ambassadors to the Director-General providing regular support to the Organization’s 193 permanent delegations.

He joins UNESCO in Tanzania at a crucial stage of the start of the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation framework supporting the advancement of national priorities for sustainable development through UNESCO’s core mandates – Education, Natural Science, Culture, Social Sciences and Communication and Information.

Mr Toto holds a graduate degree in International Law.

He is married with three children.
