UNESCO Ramallah and the Palestinian National Commission for Education, Culture and Science organized a training on the UNESCO International Fund for Cultural Diversity
UNESCO National Office for Palestine in coordination with the Palestinian National Commission for Education, Culture and Science, organized a training on the UNESCO International Fund for Cultural Diversity (IFCD) that is established under the framework of UNESCO’s 2005 Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions that was ratified by Palestine in 2012.
The IFCD aims to promote cultural and creative industries through enhancing the skills and knowledge of professionals working in the field of culture, promoting cultural entrepreneurship, strengthening creative networks and mobility, in addition to supporting the preparation and implementation of cultural policies and measure.
The training was facilitated by Mr Brahim El-Mazned, an expert from the 2005 Convention pool of facilitators. It brought together around fifty participants from different backgrounds and geographic locations from around Palestine. The training aimed to shed light on the 2005 Convention and its goals and objectives, as well as enhancing the awareness about IFCD, explaining the application process, requirements and eligibility, in addition to the opportunities available through IFCD.
It is worth mentioning that ‘Leaders Organization’ in Ramallah and the ‘Basma Society for Culture and Arts’ in Gaza were both recipients of IFCD in 2017 and 2019 respectively.
