UNESCO ROSA creates Youth Network

UNESCO Regional Office for Southern Africa (ROSA) is inviting young people from the region to become part of its regional youth network. The network aims to ensure coordination and collaboration of regional youth networks through the development of a Youth Regional Action Plan (Youth RAP), which aims to strengthen youth engagement in the region and within countries on five thematic areas: water; climate action; science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM); environment; and renewable energy. This will be in line with the Global UNESCO Operational Strategy on Youth 2014-2021.

UNESCO recognizes youth and young professionals as leaders, knowledge-holders (including indigenous knowledge) and innovators and thus firmly believe that the young people hold the solutions to sustainable development. The UNESCO ROSA Youth Network is in response to calls by youths to be more engaged in UNESCO’s work, particularly in the area of science.
