UNESCO welcomes the decisions taken by Uzbek authorities to counter the spread of the coronavirus COVID-19

Office in Uzbekistan welcomes the decisions taken by the relevant Uzbek authorities to counter the spread of the coronavirus COVID-19, as well as the measures taken by the Ministry of Public Education to establish distance learning for schoolchildren, for whom TV-lessons will be organized in conformity with the curriculum.

The coronavirus is not a reason not to learn. According to UNESCO monitoring as of March 16, 2020, 56 countries have closed schools nationwide, impacting over 516.6 million children and youth.

UNESCO encourages all Member States to introduce distance learning and believes that in the age of information technology, an emergency is not an excuse to stop continuous learning.
