UNESCO’s ICT Competency Framework for Teachers
UNESCO Cambodia is pleased to share the Khmer and English version of the new ICT Competency Framework for Teachers (ICT CF). The outbreak of COVID-19 and the Ministry of Education Youth and Sports (MoEYS)’s immediate launch of its continuous learning programme has demonstrated the urgent need for teachers to effectively use ICT to minimize learning loss during school closure. UNESCO’s ICT CF provides a comprehensive set of competencies teachers need to integrate ICT into their professional practice in order to facilitate students’ achievement of curricular objectives. The framework is informed by recent technological and pedagogical developments in the field of ICT and education, and incorporates inclusive principles of non-discrimination, open and equitable information accessibility and gender equality. Given that teacher’s professional development should be understood as a lifelong learning process, UNESCO recommends that the ICT CF be integrated throughout the lifecycle of teacher professional development: pre-service, in-service and ongoing formal and informal pedagogical and technical support to teachers. The framework can also help inform teacher training policies to strengthen the use of ICT in education to ultimately help students become collaborative, problem-solving and creative learners.
