Union MoS Road Transport and Highways, Civil Aviation visits Anantnag
ANANTNAG : As part of the Union Government’s ongoing public outreach programme, Union Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways and Civil Aviation, General (Retired) Dr. V. K. Singh today started his 3 Day visit to Anantnag.
The Minister inspected the stalls installed by various departments like Agriculture, Horticulture, ICDS, Health, Social Welfare, Handloom/Handicrafts, Industries and Commerce, Youth Services and Sports, NRLM, Animal and Sheep Husbandry etc to showcase the schemes, goods and services provided by them. He was briefed about the achievements made by the respective departments in the Centrally Sponsored and Flagship Schemes of the Government.
The Minister interacted with the beneficiaries and distributed welfare benefits among them in the form of sanction orders for Motorised Power Sprayers, Milk Vans and Dairy Units, Motorised Tricycles, kits to newborn girl children, etc.
On the occasion, the Minister held a vibrant interactive meeting with elected public representatives like DDC and BDC members, other PRIs, Presidents of Municipal Committees and other ULB members/councillors. Chairman District Development Council, Mohammad Yousuf Gorsi, District Development Commissioner, Dr. Piyush Singla, Senior Superintendent of Police, Ashish Mishra, ADDC and other district and sectoral officers also attended the session.
The public representatives held discussions and deliberations with the Minister on different issues. They brought forth various demands concerning the development and public welfare in the whole district as well as in their respective areas. They also thanked the Minister for conducting the outreach visit to Anantnag.
Dr. Singh listened to public representatives and delegations patiently and assured to address their genuine issues and demands in a time bound manner.
The Minister said it is encouraging to see the administration, line departments and the public representatives working together for development. He assured the participants to speed up the pace of ongoing work on national highways going through the district.
Later, the Minister visited GMC, Dialgam Anantnag and took stock of the pace and quality of ongoing construction work there. He also interacted with the students and doctors of the college.
