Unity Day observance at AMU
ALIGARH : The Unity Day observance continued at various departments of studies, schools and offices at the Aligarh Muslim University and the faculty members, students and staff paid rich tribute to the Iron Man of India, Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel, whose birth anniversary is celebrated as the national unity day.
Prof Yusufuzzaman Khan, Chairman, Department of Electrical Engineering administered the unity pledge to the teachers and students at the department, while Prof Ibne Ahmad, Chairman, Department of Radio-diagnosis took pledge along with other faculty members and staff to safeguard and promote the unity and integrity in the country.
Prof H.S. Acharya, Chairman, Department of Sanskrit conducted the pledge at a ceremony in the department while Dr Saba Khan, Chairperson, Department of Home Science and other faculty members and staff took the pledge to work for the strengthening of unity, integrity and harmony in the country.
The department also organized essay and slogan writing competitions to instill a deep sense of unity in students.
Prof Kunwar Frahim Khan, Chairman, Department of Geology conducted the unity pledge to the faculty members, students and staff marking the birth anniversary of Sardar Patel.
Prof. Farha Azmi, Principal, College of Nursing, administered a unity pledge to the faculty members and staff and urged them to instill a sense of belongingness in students towards the nation and urge them to work for the development and betterment of the country, as suggested and promoted through the Meri Mati Mera Desh campaign, launched by the Government of India. The campaign aims at instilling a sense of national pride in the common public and inspiring future generation to protect India’s cherished heritage.
Prof Qamrul Huda Faridi, Director, Centre for Professional Development of Urdu Teachers (CPDUT, also called Urdu Academy) administered a pledge of unity to the teachers and staff.
Mr Faisal Nafees, Principal, STS School and Prof Faiyazur Rahman, Provost, Aftab Hall also conducted the pledge in their respective school and residential hall.
The unity pledge was administered at other departments, halls of residence, schools and offices by their respective heads who also stressed the importance of fostering and reinforcing commitment to strengthening the unity, integrity and security of the country.
