Université de Montréal: Entrepreneur and philanthropist Frantz Saintellemy is named Chancellor of Université de Montréal

Frantz Saintellemy has been appointed Chancellor and Chair of the Board of Université de Montréal. His begins today, October 1, and will end in May 2025.. He succeeds Louis Roquet, who has occupied the position since 2018. Mr. Saintellemy, a member of the university’s Board of Directors for the past four years, is a multipreneur with a number of IT innovations and patents to his credit, as well as a philanthropist and social entrepreneur. He is President and Chief Operating Officer of LeddarTech Inc., and co-founder and chair of Groupe 3737, an innovation hub and promoter of minority entrepreneurship in Montréal’s Saint-Michel neighbourhood.

An inspirational journey
Frantz Saintellemy emigrated to Quebec from Haiti at the age of 8. After completing his cégep studies here, he left Quebec to pursue university studies in electrical engineering and innovation in Boston at Northeastern University and then MIT. It was there that he embarked on an international career in microprocessors and software. He later completed a joint McGill-HEC Montréal EMBA.

In 2012, he returned to Quebec and co-founded, with wife Vickie Joseph, Groupe 3737, an innovation hub dedicated to supporting minority entrepreneurs. To date, Groupe 3737’s mentoring and entrepreneurship support programs have helped 100 businesses develop and 1000 entrepreneurs realize their vision.
