Universities should undertake computerization on large scale: Madhya Pradesh Governor Tandon

Bhopal : The Governor Shri Lalji Tandon has instructed to undertake computerization work in the universities on a large scale. He has said that digitization is the need of the time and is the basis of quality education. If the universities do not make efforts in this direction in time, the difficulties would crop up in future. He said that computerization will be necessary in the proposed education policy. Shri Tandon was reviewing the work of Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya at Raj Bhavan today.

The Governor mentioned that education and health are two primary subjects of the constitution. It is essential to promote Hindi in technical education. In the country like Israel having small glossary of the language, the technical education is given in local language. He stated that there is a need for thinking and innovations in this direction. Shri Tandon said that the quality of education is important for the development. The Governor laid emphasis on mutual exchange of outstanding works and innovations being carried out in the universities. He emphasized the need for getting the work of computerization completed by establishing coordination between all the government and private universities. The Governor further stated that the government and private universities should emulate the outstanding works by establishing coordination between them.

In the meeting, the Governor was apprised of the achievements and problems of the university by the Vice Chancellor Shri Sunil Kumar. He informed that the university has been granted ‘A’ grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council. Efforts are being made by the university to obtain N.I.R.F ranking for engineering and non-engineering courses. The R.G.P.V. has been honoured with the second position among the 13 technical universities for the punctuality of the academic calendar and innovations by the Ministry of Human Resources Development, New Delhi. Priority is given to the research on subjects related to the social cause and scholarships are given to the research scholars. The process of recruitment on academic and non-academic posts is near completion.

Deliberating on the special accomplishments of the university, Shri Sunil Kumar said that the innovations are being carried out in the field of technical education. Along with the regular courses, the university has given a facility of various other online courses to the students. The university is also carrying out important works like providing seed money of upto Rs. One lakh to encourage startup, conducting more than 50 development programme to familiarize professors with latest knowledge, plantation for environment conservation and participation of teachers in facilities like On Video Lectures under the MOOCs Lab.

The Principal Secretary Technical Education Shri Pramod Agrawal and Secretary to Governor Shri Manohar Dubey were present on the occasion.
