University extension lecture held

Aligarh: The Centre for Women’s Studies, Aligarh Muslim University, in association with the University Extension Lecture, organized a lecture of Professor Margrit Pernau, Max Planck Institute for Human Development, Berlin, Germany, at Arts Faculty lounge.

Delivering her lecture on “Emotions and Modernity in Colonial India: From Balance to Fervor”, Prof Pernau said it is not only a bio-natural fact but also a historical phenomenon through which history can be revisited. She said good emotions need to be distinguished from bad emotions.

Prof Pernau emphasized that there should be a balance in emotions as they led to the creation of new communities and new areas of sociability.

Professor Farhat Hasan, University of Delhi presided over the programme while Dr Shivangini Tandon conducted the programme.
