University of Adelaide Council Appoints Risk Management Consultant Susy Daw

The University of Adelaide Council has announced the appointment of two new members, risk management consultant Susy Daw and people and culture specialist Belinda Jefferys.

Ms Daw is an experienced company director, risk management consultant, and business mentor with her own business. She has 28 years’ experience in risk and strategic consulting for the public and private sector.

Her governance expertise includes 19 years as a facilitator for the Australian Institute of Company Directors in the Foundations of Directorship, Company Directors Course, Applied Risk Governance, and Governance to Protect Vulnerable People.

Ms Daw is currently also the Deputy Chair of the Women’s and Children’s Health Network, Director of the Police Credit Union, Director of St Andrew’s Hospital and the St Andrew’s Hospital Foundation, Anglicare SA Director and an External member of the Department for Infrastructure and Transport Risk and Performance Committee.

“I am honoured to join the University Council and look forward to contributing to the success of the University,” Ms Daw said,

Ms Jefferys has more than 30 years’ experience in her field and has held several senior executive positions, including at the Bank of Queensland, Bankwest and Elders.

She has a passion for enabling people’s potential in the workplace and building constructive, ethical workplace cultures.

In addition to her People & Culture specialisation, Ms Jefferys has been an active member of executive leadership teams that have reshaped business strategy to respond to shifting economic, market and social trends.

“These recent roles at Bank of Queensland and Elders required me to work closely with the Board and Remuneration, People & Culture Committees to ensure effective governance and alignment of the organisation’s people and culture practices, including remuneration arrangements, with the organisation’s strategic goals and values,” she said.

“I am proud to bring those skills to my new role with the University Council.”

Both have been appointed to Council for a period of two years, with Ms Daw continuing to serve on Council’s Risk Committee while Ms Jefferys has been appointed Chair of the Council’s People and Culture Committee.

“We are delighted to have Susy Daw and Belinda Jefferys on Council,” University of Adelaide’s Chancellor, the Hon. Catherine Branson AC SC, said.

“They bring a diverse range of expertise with them, which will be invaluable assets to our community.”

Ms Daw and Ms Jefferys were appointed by Council on 24 June.
