“The mutually beneficial partnerships we have in Vietnam will continue to evolve and diversify, providing Vietnamese students with access to world-leading technology and subject matter experts in Adelaide, as well as leading global learning opportunities,” said Dr Gallagher.
A highlight of Dr Gallagher’s week-long trip will be meeting with University alumni and New Colombo Plan (NCP) students undertaking a study tour in Vietnam. Thirty-three NCP students from Adelaide will undertake lectures at partner institutions as well as industry visits.
The NCP study tour on Sustainable Water Management is sponsored by the University of Adelaide’s Faculty of Sciences, Engineering and Technology. It enables Australian students to study and collaborate with partner universities in Vietnam including Can Tho University, Ho Chi Minh International University, HUST, HCMUT, and Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education (HCMUTE),
“By studying in Vietnam our NCP students are developing a global perspective in their academic field while increasing their knowledge of the Indo-Pacific region,” said Dr Gallagher.
“Students will broaden their knowledge of Vietnam by connecting with local industry and culture. This will provide them with an unprecedented learning experience.
“The NCP Sustainable Water Management study tour provides a unique opportunity for our engineering students, from one of the driest regions in the world, to exchange intercultural perspectives from peers from one of the wettest regions of the world, on how to use water sustainably.”
The NCP study tour also includes cultural learning with field trips to some of the most stunning UNESCO Heritage listed tourist destinations that Vietnam has to offer
