University of Birmingham: Empowering Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) in Public Procurement
On June 13th 2022, Professor Martin Trybus and his PhD student Xinyue Xue delivered a presentation at the Public Procurement Conference (Global Revolution XI) hosted by the University of Nottingham. They presented the ongoing research “Empowering Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) in Public Procurement” which is one of the Early-Stage Researcher projects within the SAPIENS (Sustainability and Procurement in International, European, and National Systems) Network, funded by the Horizon 2020 Framework Programme of the European Union (EU). The presentation touched upon the definition of SMEs in different jurisdictions and the current state of SMEs’ participation in public procurement in the EU. Also, the potential contribution of SMEs to achieving Sustainable Development Goals was discussed.
Since its inception in 1997, the series of Global Revolution has become a major standing conference in the field of public procurement. Around 300 delegates and speakers joined the dynamic workshops of the conference.
