University of Bremen: 30,000 euros for bright minds

Interested parties can register and have a say on site or live online. Doctor and science journalist Eckart von Hirschhausen will give a special greeting via video message during the event. He is himself the founder of the “Healthy Earth-Healthy People” foundation. The subject of pens is therefore particularly close to his heart.

“Makes sense! – Donate walking. Create knowledge ”- under this motto the University of Bremen is giving its committed donors a stage in the anniversary year. They tell their stories in personal portraits and podcasts. What is it that drives you? What visions do you have of a better world? And how do you implement them together with the university?

An important part of the foundation project for the university anniversary is a very special sponsorship award. Based on the precious “Golden Fleece” – a legendary golden ram skin from Greek mythology – the University Foundation, its trust foundations and the Alumni Association jointly award the “Golden Plietsch” and thus funding totaling 30,000 euros (Plietsch is in North German for clever). They want to support courageous, innovative project ideas that face the challenges of our time: climate change, political and social conflicts, threatened habitats, scarcity of resources, digitization. The projects should make a contribution to sustainable development or strengthen social cohesion and show

Idea providers could apply up to September 20, 2021. From the applications, 9 projects have now been selected, which will be presented at a public award meeting – the pitch – on Monday, November 1st, 2021 at 5 p.m. in the Haus der Wissenschaft. A joint jury made up of donors and the audience then decides which projects are to be funded. Interested citizens can be there live and participate in the decision-making process, both locally and online. The moderation is carried out by Andreas Lieberum.
