University of Bremen Administration Dissolves Protest Camp, Maintains Ongoing Dialogue with Students
The university management immediately sought talks with the speakers of the protest camp on site this morning.
During the course of the day, further discussions were held involving the ADE (Office Against Discrimination and Violence – Expertise and Conflict Counseling) about the students’ concerns and motivations.
In the last conversation, the students submitted their demands in writing to the university management. It was agreed that the university management and speakers from the protest camp would meet again next week.
There were also calls on social media throughout the day to join the protest. In view of the incalculable risk that the peaceful protest could develop into a massively security-threatening situation, the university management has decided to disband the protest camp in the Glass Hall.
The University of Bremen sees itself as a place of diversity, dialogue and respectful and non-violent coexistence. The university aims to deal with conflicts responsibly. This is precisely why the university management will maintain the thread of conversation with its protesting students.
