University of Bremen: High vaccination rate among students
6,382 students (37 percent of those contacted) took part in an anonymous online survey in July and August. 87 percent of them have already been vaccinated at least once and 60 percent have already been completely vaccinated. Two percent of the students would like to be vaccinated in the next few weeks, another two percent were undecided. Nine percent would not or probably not want to be vaccinated in the next few weeks.
Students would like to return to attendance
A majority of the students surveyed (70 percent) would like the university to take place in regular attendance again when all students have received a COVID-19 vaccination offer. Overall, the majority (84 percent) feel well informed about the COVID-19 vaccination.
“The survey shows a high willingness to vaccinate among students”; says Dr. Heide Busse from the Leibniz Institute for Prevention Research and Epidemiology – BIPS. “The results agree with surveys at other universities in Germany.”
“This is a good step towards a presence on campus”; says Thomas Hoffmeister, Vice President for Teaching and Studies. He called on students who have not yet been vaccinated to get vaccinated. “This is the only way we can achieve the goal of enabling teachers and students to have a comprehensive presence on campus again.”
