University of Bremen tops in CHE ranking
In the current university ranking of the Center for Higher Education Development (CHE), the University of Bremen once again occupies top positions in the majority of the subjects examined when it comes to the evaluation of support at the start of studies. But there are also top rankings in other categories.
In the CHE ranking 2023, the bachelor’s degree programs in business administration, business informatics and industrial engineering in electrical engineering and information technology at the University of Bremen once again occupied top positions in the category “support at the beginning of your studies”.
The students in the subjects business administration, law and industrial engineering were also very satisfied with the organization of their studies. In the subject of business administration, the range of courses and the library equipment are also praised, and the top group is reached in the category doctorates per professor.
The CHE ranking is based on a regular, comprehensive survey of individual subjects.
In this year’s survey, the University of Bremen was particularly praised for the support it provided for internships and practical phases in the bachelor’s degree in business administration and in the subject of industrial engineering and production technology. For this course, the study and examination organization, the preparation for the examination requirements and in particular the flexibility of the course through digital teaching elements are positively emphasized.
Differentiated quality management
“Thanks to our differentiated quality management in the area of teaching and studies, the departments receive regular feedback,” explains Professor Maren Petersen, Vice President for Teaching and Studies. “From this, the departments can develop specific offers to support the students.” University offers a variety of orientation events, preliminary courses, tutorials and individual advice. “It’s gratifying that this commitment is also reflected positively in the CHE ranking , ” said the vice-principal.
Industrial Engineering and Production Engineering course is top
Professor Maren Petersen is also very pleased about the good performance of the industrial engineering course in other categories. Because of its close connection between theory and practice, between science and application, this course is considered trend-setting. The fact that the good study organization and the flexibility of the study through digital teaching elements stand out here supports the modernization course of the university in teaching and study.

The CHE ranking examines more than 300 universities and technical colleges throughout Germany. Each subject is reassessed every three years.
