University of Bremen VP appointed to the Federal Government committee

The Vice President for Teaching and Studies at the University of Bremen, Professor Maren Petersen, will advise the federal government on the subject of education in the digital transformation. She was appointed a member of the “Digital Summit” platform of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research.
“Digital education is now part of everyday life at universities,” says Vice President Maren Petersen. “It is all the more important that we find answers to the many new technological possibilities and learn to use their opportunities profitably. I am happy to be able to contribute to the topic “Education in the digital transformation”. As the University of Bremen, we have made a big leap in the digitization of teaching in recent years. I would like to contribute this experience.”

The federal government’s digital summit was launched as a central platform for politically shaping the digital dawn and would like to address the central fields of action of the digital transformation in seven thematic platforms.

In the new platform “Learning Systems I Digital Skills”, representatives from business, science and society are developing projects for the digital summit in the sections “Research and Technology” and “Education in the Digital Transformation”. The aim of the Federal Government is “To raise the potential of the key technology artificial intelligence for society, economy and science – and thus for Germany – in the best possible and responsible way.”

For this purpose, the BMBF appoints permanent members for the “Education in the digital transformation” section and also appoints additional members – each limited to one year and technically based on the respective annual topic of the summit.

Vice President Maren Petersen, professor in the Department of Production Engineering and member of the Institute for Technology and Education at the University of Bremen, will become a permanent member in the field of “Education in the digital transformation”.
The first meeting of the “Education in the digital transformation” section will take place on May 17, 2023 in Berlin.
