University of Canberra Takes Third Place Overall at 2023 UniSport Nationals Snow
Eight University of Canberra students spent a week in Thredbo to compete in the 2023 UniSport Nationals Snow against top snow athletes from universities across Australia, and ended up winning four gold, three silver and two bronze medals.
The University placed third overall – one of the University’s best team results ever achieved.
Paige Jones won the 2023 Snowboard Women Flag after winning the snowboard rail, giant slalom and slopestyle events, and placing second in the snowboard panelled slalom event. Bentley Walker-Broose won the cross country skiing individual event.
“Congratulations to our UC UniSport snow team for achieving one of our best results ever in this competition, and to the individuals for their outstanding performances. Three members of our team are part of our Elite Athlete Program [EAP], so it’s excellent they can compete in UniSport Nationals Snow as part of their competition schedule and we can support their studies through the EAP,” said the University’s Director of Sport, Carrie Graf.
