University of Cape Town: University Students Met with Famous Football Players

The lecture with participation of famous football players took place on December 10 in the assembly hall of Ural Federal University.

The students were spoken to by Dimitar Bilyaletdinov, the halfback, Honored Master of Sports of Russia, bronze medalist of the 2008 European Championship; Vladimir Bystrov, the halfback, Honored Master of Sports of Russia, bronze medalist of the 2008 European Championship; Dmitry Sychev, the striker, who was the bronze medalist of the Russian national team; Alexander Filimonov, the goalkeeper, six-time Russian Champion, holder of the Russian Cup and Ruslan Pimenov, the Russian national team forward.

UrFU students and professors asked football players questions on a variety of topics: from recent matches of the Russian national team to the development of student sports and the introduction of Fan ID at games. The student who asked the best question received an autographed T-shirt of the current members of the Russian national football team.

In addition, a special T-shirt was presented by the players to the director of the Institute of Physical Education, Sports and Youth Policy Evgeny Shurmanov in honor of the anniversary of the institute. The T-shirt, which says “UrFU” and “90”, was signed by guests of the institute.

“Today, on the World Football Day, we are glad to welcome our guests in the University. We thank the Russian Football Union and TMK for the wonderful opportunity to talk to the legends of national sport,” said Evgeny Shurmanov.

After the lecture, the players gave autographs to all comers. And tomorrow, on December 11, the university team will play against famous football players in a friendly match.
