University of Central Missouri: University of Central Missouri Hosts Teens from 20/20 Leadership Program at Lee’s Summit Campus

The University of Central Missouri (UCM) Lee’s Summit recently hosted 56 high-school students involved in 20/20 Leadership during an all-day workshop. The young people visited the campus on March 17 and participated in a tour of UCM’s state-of-the-art Missouri Innovation Campus, led by UCM’s Rick Smetana, Laura Emery and Joe Mullins.

In addition, the group gained valuable insights during a career workshop, presented by Clarinda Dir and Kenda Glidewell of UCM, learning about college and degree programs, resume development and working with various personality types. UCM’s Brenda Fuhr and Sandy Cruz discussed preparation for the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) and enrollment, and the students also participated in a team-building activity.

20/20 Leadership students also visited the UCM Lee’s Summit campus in spring 2019. 20/20 Leadership is a bi-state youth educational leadership program serving Kansas City metro area high school freshmen through seniors. The program’s goal is to provide learning opportunities that expand the students’ education beyond the classroom, develop resilient leaders and build stronger communities.

The University of Central Missouri has campuses in Warrensburg and Lee’s Summit. The fully accredited university offers affordable and flexible education programs including undergraduate and graduate degrees as well as certificate programs.
