University of East London Supports Stratford’s Creative Ecosystem

The University of East London (UEL) is enhancing its partnership with Stratford Original Business Improvement District (BID), underscoring its commitment to cultivating dynamic creative spaces within Stratford. In a recent networking event called Stratford Creative Workspaces, hosted by the BID, UEL showcased its commitment to supporting emerging talent and businesses in the arts and creative industries.

Chaired by Alison Lowe MBE, Director of Careers and Enterprise at UEL’s School of Arts and Creative Industries, the event brought together local business leaders and entrepreneurs dedicated to shaping the future of Stratford’s cultural landscape.

The networking event featured presentations and discussions by key industry players. Yves Blais from Creative Land Trust provided insights into the redevelopment of the Grade 2 listed Alice Billings House, former firefighters’ accommodation, into 30 to 40 affordable studios for artists. Connor Brazendale of General Projects highlighted the transformative approach to repurposing spaces such as Stratford Workshops, while executive Lesley Ellard talked about canalside destination Hackney Bridge as a thriving community hub nurturing local enterprises.
