University Of Edinburgh: Citywide Festival Showcases Engaging Science
From live research projects to hands-on sessions about transplant surgery, University experts will deliver a range of engaging events at this year’s Edinburgh Science Festival.
Edinburgh academics are part of a packed programme of more than 150 events at the festival, which runs from 30 March to 14 April.
The festival – the world’s first and Europe’s biggest – will feature an exciting array of events, workshops, shows and talks for all ages.
Hands-on science
Among the events being delivered by University researchers is Exploring Edinburgh’s Urban Outdoors. This guided walk will explore how contact between humans and the natural environment can benefit people’s health and wellbeing.
Moral Minds will examine how people think about the moral worth of others – people, animals, plants and AI – and how our judgments change from childhood, through the teenage years, and into adulthood.
Liver Transplant – How hard can it be? will explore the liver and transplants through visual material, equipment displays, hands-on demos and audience participation.
Festival programme
The University community plays a key role in the festival. This year dozens of academics will be sharing their expertise and insights, leading and delivering experiences for the public.
