University of Exeter: Exeter expert secures place among world’s “most inspiring” engineers
Professor Ken Evans, a leading expert in Materials Engineering, features in a new prominent list of the most inspiring engineers and technologists, published by the Institution of Engineering and Technology.
The campaign features 95 of the most illustrious experts from across the globe, both past and present, who have made a “significant impact” through their work.
Professor Evans features alongside notable scientists Ada Lovelace, Alan Turing Charles Babbage and Isambard Kingdom Brunel for the campaign.
Speaking about his inclusion, Professor Evans said: “I am delighted and honoured to have been nominated and included for this campaign. To feature alongside so many celebrated and ground-breaking engineers and technologists is a great privilege, and one that I am very proud to accept.”
Professor Evans holds the Chair of Materials Engineering at the University of Exeter and is Co-Director of Exeter Advanced Technologies and the Centre for Additive Layer Manufacturing.
He has conducted extensive research on the theoretical and experimental investigation of novel materials, including their processing, fabrication, structure, and properties, as well as their engineering and industrial applications.
He is recognised as an international expert on auxetic materials and has published more than 230 research papers and 12 patents.
