University of Exeter: University of Exeter opens regional office in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
The office will aim to increase the number of students from the ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) every year, and will work in collaboration with other universities in the region. The regional team will also enhance the awareness of the University of Exeter while also supporting the University’s green agenda by reducing UK based staff travel.
Malaysia is ranked 10th globally as a preferred study destination and is host to over 130,000 international students. Additionally, over 70,000 Malaysian students opt to study abroad with over 6,000 studying in the UK given the ties between the UK and Malaysia education systems. A vast majority of these students opt for undergraduate study, applying to universities while many also undertake Transitional Education programmes (TNE) offered by UK universities.
Jane Chafer, Director of Marketing, Recruitment, Communications and Global, said: “We are delighted to have opened a regional office in Kuala Lumpur and it joins our overseas offices in India and China. Malaysia is often described as the education hub for South East Asia and this new regional office enables us to provide excellent support to students and alumni in the area.”

The Exeter team will be situated in Mid Valley in the heart of the Kuala Lumpur, where several other UK universities are based.
