University of Freiburg: Strolls through University of Freiburg History
True to the theme “Uniseum goes public,” the Uniseum is organizing city walking tours to scenes from the university’s history for the second time between 18 September and 9 October 2021. The five guided city walks are funded by the booster association Alumni Freiburg e.V.
From the Jesuits to student pranks in 1928
The tours begin on Saturday, 18 September, at 2 p.m. with “Old University and University Chapel – Curse and Blessing of the Jesuit Installation.” They continue on Saturday, 25 September, at 2 p.m. with “University and City in Conflict – Own Jurisdiction and University Detention Room.” Then, on Saturday, 2 October, at 11 a.m., participants can take a “Stroll through the Library History of the Alma Mater.” The first three walking tours all start at the archway of the Old University, the entrance to the Uniseum on Bertoldstraße 17. The next tour, starting at 2 p.m. on Saturday, 2 October, is “Pub Crawl in 1928 – Drunk Student Pranks.” The meeting point is at Oberlinden Fountain at the fork in the road between Salzstraße and Herrenstraße. The participants in this tour should be good walkers. The tours conclude on Saturday, 9 October, at 2 p.m. with “Gossip, Laughter, and Learning at and in KG I – A Building Tells Freiburg History.” It starts at the main entrance to KG I, next to the statues of Aristotle und Homer.
