University of Greenwich Named Academic Centre of Excellence in Cyber Security Education
University of Greenwich received the silver Academic Centre of Excellence in Cyber Security Education (ACE-CSE) award in recognition of its excellence in cyber security education.
After a competitive process, the University of Greenwich was the only new applicant this year to be successful and has now joined a select group of 16 UK universities that are recognized as ACE-CSE’s.
Only nine universities are recognised as both ACE-CSE and ACE-CSR (Academic Centre of Excellence in Cyber Security Research).
Prof. Georgia Sakellari, Professor of Networked Systems and Director of the new ACE-CSE centre at the University of Greenwich said:
“Achieving both distinctions within a span of 12 months is a testament to the hard work, and dedication of our institution and our Centre of Sustainable Cyber Security to both education and research.
“Cyber Security has become a priority area in our teaching, and it is closely aligned with the latest research developments to ensure we stay current with emerging trends. We believe teaching and research should go hand in hand. We also recognise the importance of fundamental cyber security knowledge and good cyber hygiene for everyone in today’s digital age.
Dr. Taimoor Khan, Associate Professor in Cyber Security and Deputy Director of the new centre said:
“Excelling in both cyber security research and education is a significant challenge for any university. However, our institution, together with the CS2 centre, and our valued internal and external partners in academia and industry, has proven our ability to address the pressing challenges of sustainable security threats.
“We recognize that these threats often stem from vulnerabilities in underlying software, and we are committed to advancing the knowledge needed to combat them effectively.”
