University of Greenwich: University of Greenwich improves overall position in Complete University Guide

The Complete University Guide has compiled university league tables for more than 25 years.

The main league table is based on ten measures: Entry Standards, Student Satisfaction, Research Quality, Research Intensity, Graduate Prospects – outcomes, Graduate Prospects – on track, Student-Staff Ratio, Spending on Academic Services, Spending on Student Facilities, and Completion. It includes 130 institutions.

Beyond the overall improvement, several courses made big leaps up the standings including:

Sports Science climbing 52 places
Marketing up 29 spots
Art and Design and Law both up 22 places
Several courses maintained high positions including Forensics, which improved to rank number 6 in the country.

The university received positive news off the back of the recent REF results, which saw the university make significant progress in both overall research quality (as measured by overall GPA – source Times Higher Education) and Power (source – Times Higher Education), improving in these metrics by 25 and 7 places respectively. There was also an improvement in the student satisfaction metric, moving up 37 places.

Vice-Chancellor, Professor Jane Harrington, said: “These rankings are a good indicator of our progress as a university and it is really pleasing to see such positive improvements in areas of focus for us, such as student satisfaction and research. While there is still more to be done as we work to achieve the goals set out in our strategy 2030, these latest rankings are a testament to the hard-work of our staff and our university-wide commitment to providing the best possible experience for all our students.”
