University of Greenwich Welcomes British Association for the Study of Community Dentistry Spring Scientific Meeting 2024
During the two-day conference, attendees heard Professor Jane Harrington, Vice-Chancellor at the University of Greenwich, give the welcome on the first date of the event.
The aim of the event was to explore the ways in which collaboration across professional and other boundaries can add value to programmes and policies to improve oral health.
Professor Harrington was joined at the event’s gala dinner in the evening with Lord Paul Boateng, who gave a pre-dinner address.
Other delegates included members of the dental community, specifically those who are interested in dental public health. High profile speakers included, Jason Wong, Chief Dental Officer for England, Andrew Dickenson, Chief Dental Officer for Wales, and Prof Kevin Fenton, President Faculty of Public Health, there were many other ‘Presidents’ and esteemed speakers too.
President & Head of School of Human Sciences at the University of Greenwich, Dr Charlotte Jeavons, pictured, said:
“Following the tradition of exploration emanating from our location at Greenwich the programme for this event has been planned around the theme of exploring collaboration. Our speakers generously agreed to share their knowledge and expertise on collaboration to improve oral health.”
Dr Jeavons is the first former Dental Nurse to be named president of BASCD and they are looking forward to her tenure in championing dental public health.
