University of Guelph: University, UGFA Working Toward a Settlement

0

Bargaining teams for the University of Guelph and the University of Guelph Faculty Association (UGFA) – representing approximately 875 faculty, librarians and veterinarians – have been meeting since July 6 to negotiate a new collective agreement. The last agreement expired June 30, 2022.

UGFA has been given a strike mandate in a vote conducted last week. This is a standard part of the contract-bargaining process; it does not mean a labour disruption is imminent or inevitable.

The bargaining teams continue to meet and discuss proposals. Updates will be provided as they are available. The University and UGFA have a positive history of renewing collective agreements without a labour disruption.

The University values its relationship with UGFA and is committed to continuing discussions on ways of meeting our collective needs amid the continuing challenges and reaching a fair and reasonable settlement.
