University of Macau Rector Song Yonghua visits Peking University

Peking: Song Yonghua, rector of the University of Macau, recently visited Peking University and met with PKU President Hao Ping. They engaged in in-depth discussions on cooperation.

Hao extended his warm welcome to Song and the delegation. He said the University of Macau possesses unique geographical advantages and plays an important role in bridging cultural exchanges between China and Portugal. Peking University and the University of Macau have carried out extensive cooperation in many fields, including the study of the “one country, two systems” principle, the Basic Law and the joint degree training. Hao stated that PKU is willing to further strengthen all-round cooperation with the University of Macau, so as to jointly contribute to maintaining the diversity of world civilizations and serving the national strategy.

Song thanked PKU for its long-term support to the University of Macau. He said that the University of Macau is the only public comprehensive university in the Macao Special Administrative Region. On that account, it shoulders a special mission in national development. Song also reviewed the significant achievements of the cooperation between the two universities and expressed his hopes to further expand the cooperation with PKU in various fields.

Song and the delegation also visited PKU Library and engaged in another round of discussion at Yuanpei College and the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences of Peking University Health Science Center.
