University of Mannheim: The Senate of the University of Mannheim has elected new Vice Rectors / Sustainability will be more firmly anchored in the Rectorate in the future
On May 6, 2021, the members of the Senate of the University of Mannheim elected new Vice Rectors. “In line with the importance of the increased tasks and in order to do justice to the multitude of topics, we have decided to enlarge the Rectorate: Instead of the previous three, four Vice-Rectors, together with Barbara Windscheid and myself, will advance the university’s strategic development” says Rector Prof. Dr. Thomas Puhl. The term of office of the Vice Rectors lasts three years and begins on October 1, 2021.
In addition to the size of the rector’s office, the areas of responsibility are also changing: What is new is the explicit anchoring of the topic of “sustainability” in the vice-rector’s office. Laura Marie Edinger-Schons will take over from Chancellor Barbara Windscheid. In addition, Edinger-Schons will be responsible for the “Information Supply” area. The historian Prof. Dr. Annette Kehnel. The lawyer Prof. Dr. Thomas Fetzer will be responsible for “structural and development planning, internationalization and equality”, the social scientist Prof. Henning Hillmann, Ph.D., for “research and young scientists”. “I am very much looking forward to working together in the new constellation and at the same time would like to thank the previous Vice-Rector and the two Vice-Rectors for their excellent work over the past three years”, says Rector Prof. Thomas Puhl.
The regular term of office of the current Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Angelika Storrer (Studies, Teaching and Equal Opportunities) and the Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Dirk Simons (structural and development planning, scientific infrastructure and international affairs) and Prof. Dr. Edgar Erdfelder (research and young scientists) ends on September 30, 2021.
