University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill: 90% of students attest they are vaccinated
Carolina hit a major milestone for campus safety this week
As of Sept. 2, 90% of Carolina students had attested that they had received the COVID-19 vaccine.
“This is a remarkable achievement. Knowing that so many of our students are being proactive to protect their health and the health of the Carolina community is heartwarming and inspiring,” said Chancellor Kevin M. Guskiewicz. “Vaccinations, face masks and regular testing will help us limit the spread of COVID-19 on campus and provide the type of on-campus experience that allows our students to thrive.”
In Orange County, 78% of the population is fully vaccinated while 50% of the population in all of North Carolina is fully vaccinated.
Getting the vaccine and wearing a mask indoors is the best way for the Carolina community to protect themselves and others. All members of the Carolina community are strongly encouraged to get vaccinated.
Students can receive the vaccine at the Campus Health Student Stores Pharmacy and report their vaccination status on the COVID-19 Vaccination Certification website.
Carolina students who have not attested that they are vaccinated are required to undergo twice-weekly testing as part of the Carolina Together Testing Program.
Testing through the Carolina Together Testing Program is conducted at the Carolina Union. Hours are:
Mondays and Wednesdays: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Tuesdays and Thursdays: 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Fridays: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Saturdays and Sundays: Closed
Any member of the Carolina Community who is not experiencing symptoms but would like to be tested may get tested through the Carolina Together Testing Program. Students who are experiencing symptoms should contact Campus Health.
Students are encouraged to use HallPass to make an appointment for the Carolina Together Testing Program, but walk-ins are welcome. Results of the test should be available within 48 hours. Campus Health or the Orange County Health Department will contact students who test positive and provide instructions on next steps.
