University of Reading: Food experts contribute to Berkshire Public Health report
Berkshire residents are being encouraged to think about the impact of their food choices on their health, and the health of the planet.
Experts in Food and Nutrition, and Crop Sciences from the University of Reading have contributed to a new report from the Directors of Public Health for Berkshire. The online document gives information and evidence-based recommendations how to make food choices that could tackle obesity and reduce the impact of food production on the environment.
Gunter Kuhnle, Professor of Nutrition and Food Science at the University of Reading said:
“The report outlines how important it is to make deliberate decisions about what we eat for our health and the health of the planet. Finding balance is key for good nutritional health, and the same is true for diets for planetary health.
“It is a privilege to have been involved in consulting on this report, which provides grounded advice to help people think about their diets in relation to the environment.”
