University of Reading: Reading tops UK for Agriculture in 2022 QS Subject Rankings

Agriculture at Reading has once again been ranked among the global elite, topping UK institutions offering courses in this field in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2022.

The University moved up one place to be ranked 11th globally and 1st among UK institutions ranked for Agriculture & Forestry, a classification that includes study across a range of areas at Reading, including agriculture, food science, ecology, and soil sciences.

Professor Richard Frazier, Head of the School of Chemistry, Food and Pharmacy, said:

“Research and teaching about Food Sciences has a critical role for global health. As such, our ranking in the latest QS World University Rankings by Subject reflects our status as one of the largest Food and Nutritional Sciences departments in the UK. From advising governments to championing forgotten voices of people from areas of deprivation in food policy making, we are doing something about the significant challenges that we face in the food sector.”

This year, the University has also increased the number of subjects ranked among the world’s top 200 higher education institutions to 14. These include highly placed rankings in Earth and Marine Sciences and Environmental Sciences.
