University of São Paulo: Book rescues the history of the 50 years of graduate studies in Engineering at Poli USP

To rescue the memory of five decades of postgraduate studies in Engineering at the Polytechnic School (Poli) at USP, Professor José Tadeu Balbo, professor of Transport Infrastructure and president of the School’s Graduate Commission, launched the virtual book Memórias 50 Years Old: Graduate at the Polytechnic School of USP (1970-2020) . The publication is available for free download and covers from the implementation of the teaching modality in the institution to the contribution and importance to the improvement of research and academic development at Poli.

In addition to bringing the numbers and dates of master’s and doctoral programs, as well as the functioning of internationalization programs linked to graduate studies, the book documents events at Poli since 1940 and its continuous evolution to “rescue the memory of graduate studies in our school for the present generations who are unaware of it and also for future generations, as well as making clear our protagonist activities in the academic environment”.

The publication had been developed since December 2020 and was completed in June 2021. The research and writing of the work was authored by Balbo, who was assisted in relation to the preparation and printing in digital format by the Fundação de Apoio a Universidade de São Paulo (Fusp). Workshop

On December 21st, the workshop 50 Years of Graduate Studies at Epusp: Internationalization and Challenges was held , with the aim of commemorating the five decades of implementation of Graduate programs at the school. The event was simulcast on the school’s YouTube channel .

In addition to professor José Tadeu Balbo, the event was attended by professor Liedi Bernucci, the elected director of Poli, professor Reinaldo Giudici, and other school directors and professors who highlighted the importance of graduate studies as the essence of research and the training of researchers. and scientists.
