University of São Paulo: Candidates for the Dean of USP talk about their proposals for the next administration
This Wednesday (17th) the Jornal da USP no Ar interviewed candidates for dean and vice-dean of the University of São Paulo. Two slates are running for the rector’s mandate from 2022 to 2026: USP Viva – formed by Professor Carlos Gilberto Carlotti Júnior, from USP’s Faculty of Medicine of Ribeirão Preto, candidate for rector, and by professor Maria Arminda do Nascimento Arruda, candidate for vice rector -, and Somos Todos USP – formed by professor Antonio Carlos Hernandes, from the São Carlos Institute of Physics, candidate for dean, and by professor Maria Aparecida de Andrade Moreira Machado, from the Bauru Dentistry School, USP, as vice dean candidate .
The two interviews were carried out live and the order of each slate was established by drawing lots. The time to expose their ideas was 20 minutes, with four equal questions for each ticket, with a response time of three minutes.

This Thursday, 11/18, there is a consultation with the community, in which professors, active employees and all undergraduate and graduate students regularly enrolled at the University vote. The result of this vote is advisory only.
The University Assembly, which will elect future rectors, will be held on 11/25. The Assembly is constituted by the University Council, Central Councils, Congregations of the units and Deliberative Councils of museums and specialized institutes. The result of this assembly, with the number of votes from each competing ticket, will be sent to the governor of São Paulo, who has the prerogative of choosing the names of the next USP rectors from the list that will be presented to him.
