University of São Paulo: Innovation and technology park in Ribeirão Preto selects startups for incubation

The Supera Incubator of Technology-Based Companies, located on the USP campus in Ribeirão Preto, is selecting startups for its incubation process. Entrepreneurs with innovative technology-based projects, in the process of idea validation, or technology-based companies in the initial phase of operation can participate in the selection process. Registration is free and runs until February 23. Applications and the call for proposals can be accessed at this link .

The incubation at Supera Parque aims to support entrepreneurs to make their innovation projects and businesses viable with the best market practices. The idea is to promote innovative businesses with high added value, especially in the areas of health, biotechnology, information technology and agribusiness, which are scientific and business vocations in the region. Companies from other segments can also participate in the selection process, as long as they are technology-based businesses.

In addition to specialized technical support, the selected entrepreneurs have access to infrastructure, advice, training and networking. “It is a rich and unique opportunity to reach a new level of business with the support of a specialized team”, highlights Saulo Rodrigues, manager responsible for the incubator, which was considered one of the 20 best in the world and the only Brazilian in the UBI ranking. Global (2019/2020).

According to data from the Brazilian Startup Association, today, Brazil has 14,065 startups distributed in 78 communities and 710 Brazilian cities. “Currently, Supera Parque houses 88 companies, 65 of which are in the incubator”, highlights Rodrigues.

He explains that the startup support program is a habitat for developing and polishing businesses with more precision and sustainability. “The great merit of incubation is to offer startups tools and solutions for creation, development and improvement, in terms of technological, managerial, marketing and human resources aspects. This so that they are more competitive and sustainable in the market”, he explains.

“Everything changes. The incubator helped me with mentoring and guidance to achieve product scalability and profitability. It was an important step to get where I am. Now I am ready and more convinced in the business and in the company that are about to materialize”, says Carlos Fernando Baltieri, from the company Hope Kphé, one of the newly approved entrepreneurs in the selection process.

Project selection

The selection process takes place in stages, all with an eliminatory character, the first of which is the submission of projects on the Gust platform. It is important to point out that one of the prerequisites for registration is participation in one of the editions of the Empreende na Supera course, the entrepreneurship course carried out by the incubator, with the next edition scheduled for the period from February 14th to 18th and registration in this link . Entrepreneurs classified in the first stage will undergo personal interviews.

In the final stages, the classified candidates will present their projects to an evaluation panel and will be evaluated by the Supera Incubator Advisory Board. Those approved will be incubated and will receive support from Supera for the development of the business for at least 24 months.

“Companies leave the incubator ready to conquer the market and generate new business. Here, we help to transform good ideas into relevant solutions for society’s demands and this contributes to the fact that a large part of the assisted companies are awarded in their sectors of activity and identified as some of the most promising in the country”, he concludes.

Supera Parque is managed by Fipase and is the result of a partnership between USP, the Municipality of Ribeirão Preto and the Department of Development of the State of São Paulo. The Technological Park is expanding with the urbanization of lots for the installation of companies and the implementation of Container Park, a new business complex.
