University of São Paulo: New US law censors classes on race and gender – and the gag could reach Brazil, says professor

The course of the Faculty of Economics, Administration, Accounting and Actuarial Science (FEA) at USP will promote a chat about racial segregation in the construction of Brazilian music this Wednesday, 14, at 17:00, in the Safra Auditorium of FEA . The event will feature the participation of rapper Rincon Sapiência, to talk about Brazilian music and the challenges faced by social groups historically discriminated against in this environment . To participate, it is necessary to register through the link .

Also participating in the event will be the history teacher of the course, Laíza Santana Oliveira. According to the organization, this event is part of the FEA Course Week , which runs until September 16th. The objective is to give visibility to the work of the pre-college course and to raise funds to cover the costs of the registration fees at FUVEST of the students of the initiative who had their exemption requests denied. The Cursinho Week will feature activities and events at FEA, as well as dissemination on social networks and in the University environments, such as the FEA Experience and the Visconde de Cairu Academic Center (CAVC) .

Guest Danilo Albert Ambrósio, better known by his stage name Rincon Sapiência, is a Brazilian rapper and poet, born in São Paulo in 1985. He began his career in 2000 and gained more notoriety in 2009 with the release of the single Elegância . Initially, he was part of the band Munições da 38, in which he performed under the stage names Rincon X and Mc Shato. In addition to singing rap, Rincon develops poetry workshops, participates in hip hop events and other social activities.

FEA course
Active for 22 years, the Cursinho da FEA is a pre-university course, without monthly fees, managed and founded with the initiative of FEA students, with the support of CAVC and the then college board. The course’s mission is to promote social mobility through the democratization of access to higher education.
