University of São Paulo: USP promotes international event on Language and Decoloniality

On August 29, the Faculty of Philosophy, Letters and Human Sciences (FFLCH), together with the Faculty of Education (FE), both from USP, promote the event Language and Decoloniality . Portuguese). The event will be a hybrid: in person and with online transmission, and will have foreign guests. Among them, researcher Gabriela Veronelli, from the Department of Philosophy at Binghamton University, and moderators Ana Paula Duboc, professor at the Faculty of Education (FE), and Lynn Mario Menezes de Souza, professor at the FFLCH.

The action is part of the National Literacy Project: “Language, Culture, Education and Technology” , which involves more than 30 universities. Since 2009, he has been responsible for developing research and interventions in the training of foreign language and Portuguese teachers. The project encourages basic education language teachers to take seminars and courses, such as continuing education, in addition to debates on public policies for language teaching. In the view of the project’s researchers, critical literacy is essential for raising awareness of society and the subject, which would allow the reconstruction of local and global knowledge.

The event takes place from 10 am to 11 am, in room 266 of the Letters building, at FFLCH. The live broadcast will be on YouTube, on the National Literacy Project channel . The public will be able to ask questions during the debate, which will be issued with a certificate at the end of the conversation.
