University of South Africa: All systems go for Unisa’s Muckleneuk graduations
The historical ZK Matthews Great Hall, which has witnessed the graduations of some of South Africa’s greatest daughters and sons, will embrace a new crop of outstanding graduates on what will undoubtedly be one of the most memorable days in their lives as they walk across the stage in celebration of a dedicated, and often challenging, study journey.
The Tshwane event will be followed by graduation ceremonies in Cape Town, Durban and East London on selected dates in July and August, which will be communicated directly to graduating students. The current series of graduation ceremonies kicked off in Polokwane earlier this week.
Graduations at Unisa symbolise the pinnacle and culmination of the hard work both students and academics put in over the years. The university takes pride in this sacred tradition that seeks to honour, recognise and reward hard work, academic success and excellence.
For many of Unisa’s students, graduation ceremonies serve as the first ever meaningful recognition and achievement – the fulfilment of not only a lifelong dream, but the restoration of their sense of worth and indeed the reaffirmation of their humanity.
