A new partnership with Tata Consultancy Services will foster joint research projects and learning opportunities for students across India and Australia.
The University of Sydney and Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), a leading global IT services, consulting and business solutions organisation, have signed a memorandum of understanding to collaborate on research projects and learning opportunities for students.

Opportunities for collaboration between TCS and the University include a range of possibilities for students: hands-on learning in India and Australia, internships, graduate employment and professional development. In addition, the partnership will explore collaboration in digitisation and technology, educational content for digital-technology disciplines, and joint research and development in technology, particularly in engineering, business and science.

The memorandum of understanding was signed on 6 September at the Australia India Leadership Dialogue in New Delhi by the University’s Vice-Chancellor and President, Professor Mark Scott, and the President of TCS Asia Pacific, Girish Ramachandran.

Professor Scott and Mr Ramachandran are both delegates at the Australia India Leadership Dialogue, where leaders from government, business, education, media and civil society in Australia and India have gathered to address the nations’ shared challenges and explore areas for cooperation, with an emphasis on emerging technologies. Themes for discussion include cybersecurity and AI, clean tech and decarbonisation, global talent recruitment and skills mobility, and service delivery in a post-pandemic world.

“The University of Sydney and Tata Consultancy Services share a passion for innovation and a vision for a sustainable future,” said Professor Scott. “This partnership will open up opportunities for our students and researchers, allowing them to gain global experience and connections. We look forward to exploring new projects and international learning opportunities.”
