University of Texas at Austin Among Top Producers of Fulbright Scholarships

For 14 years in a row, The University of Texas at Austin has continued its streak as one of the top-producing research institutions of U.S. Fulbright scholars.

This year, the U.S. State Department’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs awarded 17 Longhorns with this prestigious and life-changing designation. Because of this achievement, the State Department has recognized UT Austin as an institution producing the most significant number of U.S. Fulbright scholarships. UT Austin has guided 233 students during the past 19 years through this rigorous process.

“The Fulbright U.S. Student Program is a highly esteemed and longstanding partner of The University of Texas at Austin’s pursuit for excellence in international education,” said Sonia Feigenbaum, senior vice provost of global engagement and chief international officer. “We are deeply honored to be named once again as a Fulbright top producer, a recognition of the university’s dedication toward preparing students to learn, grow and serve as global citizens.”

Fulbright is the U.S. government’s flagship international educational exchange program, ranking among the largest and most diverse exchange programs in the world. Since its inception in 1946, more than 400,000 participants from all backgrounds and fields in the United States and more than 160 other countries have participated in the Fulbright Program. Approximately 8,000 merit-based grants are awarded annually across most academic disciplines and fields of studies and provide recipients with the opportunity to study, teach or conduct research in one another’s countries and exchange ideas.
