University of Texas at Dallas: UTD Grad Programs Garner Higher Marks in U.S. News Rankings
Graduate programs at The University of Texas at Dallas received increasing recognition in the latest U.S. News & World Report rankings, released March 29, with the Naveen Jindal School of Management climbing into the top 30 full-time graduate business schools nationwide.
The Jindal School full-time Master of Business Administration program placed 29th in the U.S., in the top 10 among public schools nationwide and second among Texas public schools. The school also climbed into the top 20 for its business analytics and part-time MBA programs. The MBA specialty in information technology management jumped one spot to 12th, while the finance specialty made its first appearance in the rankings, placing 34th.
“Ever since I started as dean in the late 1990s, we have been focused on enhancing and delivering the best MBA programs possible knowing that recognition will eventually follow,” said Dr. Hasan Pirkul, Caruth Chair and dean of the Jindal School. “These rankings are an affirmation that we have been doing the right things when it comes to student recruitment, academics, postgraduation job placements, and employer and alumni relations. I am especially proud to be ranked among the top 10 public business schools in the U.S.”
The computer engineering graduate program in the Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science climbed into the national top 50, landing at No. 47, while the electrical engineering (No. 51), computer science (No. 63) and mechanical engineering (No. 75) programs also saw modest gains.
In the School of Economic, Political and Policy Sciences, the public affairs program rose two spots to 56th, while the public and nonprofit management program debuted in the specialty list at No. 32.
“Our graduate programs have been steadily climbing in both national and global rankings,” said Dr. Juan González, dean of graduate education and the Francis S. Johnson Chair for Graduate Education. “This is an indication that UT Dallas’ degree programs, while still young, have attracted the world-class students and faculty necessary to gather the recognition of our peers. We expect this trend to continue as our institution grows and matures.”
Each year, U.S. News ranks professional school programs in a rotating, wide range of fields based on expert opinions about program status as well as statistical indicators of the quality of a school’s faculty, research and students.
The data comes from surveys sent to graduate program administrators and from reputation surveys sent to academics and professionals in the disciplines.
The audiology program in the School of Behavioral and Brain Sciences remains the highest-ranked UT Dallas program, tied at No. 2 in the nation when such programs were last ranked in 2020.
