University of Tokyo Celebrates Academic Excellence: AY 2023 Commencement Ceremony Triumphantly Held

The University of Tokyo AY 2023 Commencement Ceremony was held at Yasuda Auditorium on Friday, March 22, 2024.

The ceremony was held three times. Accompanied by the University of Tokyo Orchestra’s performance of “Divertimento in D major, K. 136” by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, the president, the executive vice presidents, deans of the Faculties and special guest Mr. MUNEOKA Shoji, chairman of the UTokyo Alumni Association, ascended to the stage in their academic gowns, and the ceremonies began.

President Fujii awarded diplomas to the graduates representing each Faculty, and gave a baccalaureate address to the graduates. Mr. Muneoka then gave a congratulatory address to the graduates, and the representative graduates (1st session: Ms. TOKUYAMA Hou from the Faculty of Letters, 2nd session: Ms. ICHINOSE Luana from the Faculty of Law, 3rd session: Ms. NISHIMURA Arisa from the Faculty of Engineering) made speeches in reply on behalf of the entire graduating class, after which the ceremony was concluded.

Livestreams of the ceremony were provided, and watched by many graduates and their families who were unable to attend the ceremony, as well as the general public.
